CPU core ratio stuck on ASUS B450-f w/ Ryzen 5 2600

I'm trying to overclock my Ryzen 5 2600 CPU on an ASUS B-450f mobo from inside the ASUS bios, but all my attempts to change the CPU core ratio are ignored by the bios. The bios lets me type in a CPU core ratio, confirms it on the save and reset but then reverts to the old 38.50 multiplier. I can change the other settings (BCLK frequency, memory frequency and voltage) but not the core ratio.

I've successfully overclocked my system to 4100 MHz via Ryzen Master, but I want to be able to set this in the bios.

Thanks in advance for the help.

If you can figure out what they are on about, there might be issues with the Asus bios.

They are now at bios v 1201

You could try asking Asus what the issue is if a bios update doesn't fix the problem, if it is a problem. They said it is designed to detect cpu settings automatically. They might have designed it for auto/software controlled overclocking rather than manual overclocking.

There are several threads about this but none solved yet, so I can't tell you if updating the bios will or won't solve the issue. It is entirely down to whether or not Asus has addressed it in the update.

Save your bios before updating it in case there's another problem hopefully the update software will have the option to do that. That means you should save the bios and prepare a usb stick to reinstall it, before updating to 1201 in case you need to go back to the earlier version.

This customer review says earlier bios updates had fixed a similar issue. Install the latest bios, taking all the bios installation precautions. Read guides if you need instructions I haven't needed to update a bios for ages so I'm a bit rusty.

I tried that (turning off, unplugging PSU and pressing and holding the power button 15 sec), but there was no change to the issue. I can type in a new CPU core ratio, save and reset with message indicating the core ratio change, and then after the reboot and getting back to the BIOS, the core ratio has return to the previous value.

Yeah, that's the BIOS version installed on my PC. I upgraded to that version when I assembled the PC in January.

Thanks for the suggestions though. I'll keep looking. Perhaps it's a setting I'm missing that's overriding the core ratio.
