CPU family

[needs_help]

how to check for CPU family (such as family 540, 550, 560 etc)? i know there is a program called CPU-Z out there but it says "F" under the family in on my comp(which....i really have no idea what it is, as of on intel.com they categorize them with numbers)

also there r different models of CPUs such as 3.2 Ghz and 3.2E Ghz, there really not too much difference about them, but is there a way to check the CPU's model number? (my cpu is 3.26 gigz wonder which model it is)

thanks Flinx, but on the first link, there r 2 3.2gigz LGA775 processors which r hard to seperate, except the Thermal Guideline is a bit different, i still dont know which one of them is better (the 84W or the 100something W) and which one i am using right now -- is there a way to know? (like check in BIOS? or download a similar program to CPU-Z)

ps: do u know what does the "F" under cpu family in CPU-Z means?

The 84W one is probably the P4 3.2EE, which is a Northwood core with 2MB of L3 cache added.

Those are both Prescotts. Given that Prescotts waste a lot of power as heat, lower wattage would be prefered.

The family, model and stepping numbers do not directly translate to a specific processor, and should not be used as a tool to identify a specific processor.
