Hi, I have a question I’m struggling to figure out, any feedback is appreciated. So I have a dark rock tf running i9 9900k @ 4ghz, I’ve seen evidence of stable 5ghz with the tf but I won’t do that, I’m going to upgrade it to a dark rock 4 pro so I can OC a bit more, maybe to 4.5 - 4.7GHz. The tricky thing is, I’m using patriot viper steel that’s 44.4mm high & DR4pro with 140mm fans allow 45mm over ram, if I leave it as is I think the ram may melt into the bottom of the fan with only 0.6mm of gap...if I replace that 1 fan With a be quiet 120mm taking slight performance away, would I still be able to OC to around the 4.5ghz or higher with 1x140mm & 1x120mm or do I keep both 140’s & hope it doesn’t melt?

Solution
I understand your concerns, but there really isn't that much to worry about. If you have slight spacing between the ram and the cooler then that's great. If you think about it, you'll be idling 30-40c, that's not enough to melt anything. Under load you'll be much higher, but this is... Remember the CPU itself, not the cooler up top.

I think that your biggest concern would be to ensure good airflow.

Thanks for your reply.
I have 6 be quiet 120’s, 3 on the front, 2 on top & 1 on the back, I will also get another 2 for the bottom blowing upwards and case is closed. So this would be efficient enough to keep the ram cool even with the 0.6 gap?
