I have RX 470 and i5 3330 with 8 GBs of RAM.I have some issues while playing Battlefield 1 in 1080P Ultra details.Especially in 64 players map.I am thinking about CPU upgrade,I have two option due to my budget.i7 3770K which is compatible with my current motherboard(Z77 platform, which means I will be able to overclock the 3770K) and i5 6500 or 6600 with new motherboard, and RAM.In my country there are 130-160 dollars of gap between these two option, upgrading to Skylake is more expensive for my budget. What can you suggest?I am okay with spending more money if the difference between stock 3770K and 6500/6600 is significant.

Solution

Switching from a 3770k to a i5 6500 is a terrible upgrade, in fact I would call it a downgrade in terms of processing power. Certainly not worth the money, even if you dont overclock it.

It is not hard to OC that cpu, plenty of easy to follow guides out there for overclocking ivy bridge.. Assuming you have a decent cooler and power supply I would definitely recommend a moderate overclock.

you will be quiet okey with 3770k when you oc it to 4.2 ghz range. it will perform better than both 6500 and 6600 cpu's. just make sure you have decent cooler to keep k series cpu calm. Also i suggest you to buy an 8gb ram to make your system 16gb ram

Can we say same thing without overclock.Because I have no experience with overclocking. If it is equal with 6500 without overclock,I can buy it
