Hello guys,
I was building the last two days a "self made" pc. I have done an other one in the past so i am a little bit experienced.
However this time i heve encountered an new problem, the cpu gety extremly hot while idling. Hot in means of freaking 90c after just 3 minutes.
My question is: What is causing the heat?

My PC
CPU: AMD RYZEN 5 1600x @ 3.6
Motherboard: Asus Crosshair VI
GPU: nVidia GeForce GTX 1070 GIGABYTE G1 Gaming
PSU: Corsair 650x
RAM: G.Skill 16GB
Cooler: Corsair H110i 280mm (watercooler)
Case: NZXT 340

Before tipps like: "Have you plugged in the pump" occure, i would like to make some things sure.
This pc was never working before.
I have plugged in all fans and all of them are spinning.
They dpin faster(@2600rpm) as soon as the cpu gets over about 60c ( or in other words as son the boot is finished)
I can not heat the pump because of the fans.
I have removed the thermal paste with Kryonaut (12.5 wm/k)
Sorry for my bad english, i am from germany.

90C is really really high wow..
since you're sure you mount the cpu cooler and the fans right.
1-then first, uninstall asus AI suite 3 completly and update your board to latest official bios
2- go to bios load default setting and restart it.
3-go to the bios again and diable CPU CORE BOOST AND RESTART and see what will happen.
4-what's your cpu core voltages (try to put them manualy) if your pemps doesn't get lower.
you are the first one that do 90C on idle 3.6ghz.

I have not installed windows yet because i am still waiting for my GPU so i am using my old 1070 which is working fine. The clock is fine and the voltage at 1.4.
I have tried my other cooler which made the temperature go down to 60c on a warm summer day (30c). I guess it is the cooler because i can not hear any noise from the pump of the H110i.
I will send it back and i will see if it is an DOA. Thx for the help RAGNAR5

it's could be faulty pomp try to RMA the cooler...
what's your old cpu cooler ? is it comptible with am4 ? because your temps is high (my 1800x @3.6 ghz runs 40C idle-and 63C undet full load)
1.4 vcore is high try to lower it under 1.3v

I am going to RMA the cooler thats for sure. As soon as i get my GPU i will try your suggestion. Thank you so much for hrlping me. I will give updstes in about three days.

.

anytime... :)
