cpu help please

im new at this so please dont laugh i have a geforce6100pm-m2 mother board i think with amd quad-core phenom 9500 cpu 4g ddr2 ram and an ati radeon hd 4550 gpu 512mb dedicated 2296mb total shared. running win 7 64bit not sure about power supply. what would be the best ram upgrade and best gpu upgrade dont need cpu yet as the one i have is about the same as the i3 so will do for now as i say only been into pc's for about 1-2 months so any help would be gratefully received thanks

By no chance the phenom cpu is the same as a i3 4170. Honestly i dont think you should invest in a gpu, go for a raven ridge apu and you will game much better then a gpu upgrade.

This CPU, as already mentioned, is nowhere near i3:

As you can see, it is 2x slower, and even more than 2 times when you compare per-thread performance.

And this is compared to i3 4130, which was introduced back in 2013.

You need a full platform upgrade. Ryzen 2200G with its integrated GPU will be better that this *by miles*.

Looks like your PC is old but dont worry.If you are aiming to play a specific game or work.you should follow their's requirements.Watch this video it will help you to select the GPU for now and in the future.For now your cpu is ok.

yeah it is i use it manly for downloads but want to use it for games as well thats why asking about gpu and ram

What games? The phenom 9500 wasn't a great cpu back in the day and is well below min spec for all big games released in the past couple of years.

No matter the gpu you put in there or the ram you'll have trouble running games past 2013. There is also the issue with missing instruction sets and whatnot which causes games to simple not be able to launch.

It will help but the problem is your cpu is incredibly weak. Best thing for you to do is just save up for a new system and leave this one be.
