I have an Abit kr7a-133r board with an unknown AMD Athlon XP+. It is not registering correctly in the bios so I need to set the correct FSB and multiplier manually via softmenu.

The chip was given to me awhile ago....I plunked it in the board....and then forgot about it for a few months....just enough time to forget what kind of chip it was.

I believe it is in the 2800 to 3000 range but am not sure. Outside of taking the chip off the board etc. is there a way to tell what chip is in there?

Thanks!

Might wanna check out Abit's website 1st for bios updates, for any CPU support it may be lacking.

After that you could try CPU-Z in windows.

Should be able to physically see the model number if you take the processor out, google it, to find out what it exactly is, if the above doesn't work out.

I have checked for a bios update...and I have the most current. I will try the program you mentioned and post a reply.
