Recently My PC has been crashing when I have been playing games for a couple of hours or so. It either hard freezes or BSoDs. I have had the errors Clock_watchdog_Timeout, WHEA_uncorrectable _error and Machine_check_exception. I have run ChK dsk and sfc/scan and no problems have shown up, however when I run intel processor diagnostic tool it always BSoDs during the CPU load test. I have updated my drivers and replaced the RAM but it still happens. The CPU is running at most 74 degrees C whilst gaming. I would guess it's a CPU or PSU problem? Does that sound right? If so which do you think it is?
My specs are below if you need them:

I5 core 4690K
Corsair CS650M
Asus z97-a
Nvidia GTX 1660 super

Please see this guide for information to include in a BSOD post and to enable us to grab the dump files for your issue: https://forums.tomshardware.com/thr...nclude-in-blue-screen-of-death-posts.3468965/

However just info based on what you have said:
  • Clock_watchdog_timeout is a CPU hang effectively, and in the mast majority of cases, is indeed the CPU at fault.
  • WHEA stands for Windows Hardware Error Architecture, and as you can tell, is often related to hardware.
  • Machine_Check_Exception is a subtype of a WHEA error, and is just indicating it is an MCE WHEA Error.
  • If you are also having errors on CPU tests, that would further indicate the CPU is the culprit.
Based on that, it would initially point to your CPU. PSU would not so likely cause Clock watchdog issues as these are almost exclusively CPU issues. I'd also verify that you reset BIOS to default settings just to remove any possible overclocks or settings that have been changed to make sure.
