CPU Load Fail

Hey guys,

I have an Intel i7-4790k, and I just recently downloaded the Intel Processor Diagnostic Tool.
I've run it once before and passes, no issue.

I just ran again though and I passed everything but the "CPU Load" and the "Temperature Monitor." The error box says:

"Received 1 degrees below max
Test FAILED
Please check your Processor Thermal Solution
Temperature Monitor Stopped"

I also just played Rome Total War II before running the tool.

Is this an issue I should be pretty worried about? It's a new build, and my first one as a matter of fact so I'd like to maintain my PC as well as I can.

Any input will be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

I downloaded that tool and it does not list separate CPU load test so I think that CPU load test just mean run during which it measure temperature or other stuff. So that FAIL is mostlikely caused by that temperature test failing.

When you got one degree below that mean you was on 99 C which is very high so really need to sort that temperature. I would wait until you get new cooler it should mostlikely fix problem.
I use same cpu with noctua NH-D15 and it works fine even under high load but there are many cheaper (and much smaller) coolers which will give you greate performance too.
Are you running on stock cooler or you bought other?
Stock cooler may be good enough for normal usage but various load/stress tests may be too much for it.

Try to download some software to monitor cpu temperature (hw monitor, core temp, realtemp, ... or you may have some bundled with your motherboard) after that do your normal usage (games, ...) and post max /average temperature here. If it reach high numbers it's possible your cooling is not enough.

Possible solutions if you will have high temperatures
- cleaning your pc from dust (mainly cooler)
- reapplying thermal paste
- getting better cooler
- ...

I'll be buying a new cooler this week. But what about the "CPU Load Fail" ? How worried should I be? And is there something I need to do to make sure I pass it?
