HI guys
I like to have your advice on what type of computer to go for...
Intially I wanted to go for a 939 Dual Core.
Now I am confused.....
939 is ending and M2 is coming in the second quarter..
But I desperately need a computer and can't wait so long.

So One idea is to build a system but invest as little as I can in MOBO and CPU. Then I can upgrade the CPU and MOBO when M2 accquires some maturity.

Mostly I use the system for encoding videos. I play some Real Time Strategy Games but I am not a hardcore gamer.

So please advise me on what CPU& MOBO I should get..
I would really appreciate your recommendations on a cool case, power supply etc too

many thanks in advance

No MB maker has one on the market right now, but this board;
ASRock 939Dual-SATA2 Socket 939 ULi M1695 ATX AMD Motherboard
Model #: 939Dual-SATA2
has a card slot that’s meant to hold an M2 upgrade card when the M2 comes out.
Toms has a review of the MB here: http://www.tomshardware.com/2005/09/16/asrock_939dual/

However, if the M2 makes use of faster memory, it may/may not be supported.
That’s usually the tradeoff of getting a MB with a “Future Upgrade Slot”

Thanks prozac26.
Thanks also KrazyIvan
Looks like the ASRock is the answer to my prayers :) ie atleast until M2 become more affordable

The espansion card is not being mnufactured as of yet. When it comes out I am sure it will be 100% compatible memory and all. But buyer be warned! You will be very limited as to what kind of H/S fan you can put on the expansion card and you will be limited to two sticks of DDR-2 RAM. But I didnt buy this board for that M2 capabilities. I bought it for the AGP slot.

I had the same situation.
IMO, I'm going to wait until the Socket AM2, just cause there will be tons of new technology coming out and if you buy a new system now you'll need to buy a whole new system for the AM2 because you won't be able to add all your old parts to the AM2.
RAM will be different, cases could be different, Blu-ray should be out, new video cards, etc.

I just upgraded my videocard and RAM, I love running mobos to the ground.
It'll be the most cost effective as well, trust me, I'm a student right now and have tons of time to research stuff up and go for the cheapest route.

Ive got

Socket A Athlon XP 3000+
Ultra 2x512MB
GeForce 6600GT

And I'm doing fine for the time being
