CPU package heating issue?

I downloaded HW Monitor to monitor some of the temperatures inside my computer. I'm a little worried that my CPU packages are running a little bit to hot (the package temp reads that it is at Low: 71C average: 71C High: 89C). Is this a major problem? Also is upgrading the motherboard or the CPU going to lower/help the temps?

What CPU model is it? What heatsink are you using? Did you build the computer yourself? Are those temperatures at idle?

Yes that temperature is high for a cpu especially if it's on idle. Changing the motherboard won't make a difference nor will changing the CPU unless it's defective.

Go into your BIOS Setup and see what those screens say is the CPU temperature at idle. If they say much lower than 71C, then I would strongly suspect that the HWMonitor software is not properly calibrated for your system and its temperature readings are wrong.

Sorry it took so long to respond. The CPU is actually an APU it's a A8-7600 with the stock heatsink. I bought the computer premade which is the lenovo x315 and so after switched the graphics card to a gtx 960. The "low" temps that I mention was on idle 71C. The "high" temps was underload I was playing Guild Wars 2 89C. Also isn't there a difference between temp packages of the APU and the APU Temp?

Oops I accidentally marked you as the solution. I will check the Bios when I get a chance. Does anyone know how to unsolution the forum.
