[SOLVED] CPU performance issues in Windows 7

For some reason, I'm having CPU performance issues on my x5680. I ran Cinebench and I only got a score of 829, but I'm suppose to be getting a score of around 960. I then ran Cinebench in Windows 7 Safemode and I got a score of 990...

I suspect some sort of malware is causing performance issues because I had to remove some weird adware malware that was messing with my internet connection a couple days ago. I followed the complete malware removal guide here, but it says my PC is clean. My CPU is idling around 9-11% usage.

What could be causing this significant difference in performance?

i use process explorer to get a better picture of what is running on my system

it's basically task manager on steroids. it should help narrow down what is using resources on your system so you can get rid of it.
