Hi all! I’m switching my motherboard to the MSI Pro Z690-A Wifi DDR4, and while installing my CPU, I noticed what appears to be some missing or bent pins in the socket. I’m pretty new to PC building, so I just want to check if my suspicions are correct, and if so how/if I could fix the problem. Any help would be appreciated! Below is a link to an image of the socket.
i see what appears to be bent pins.
if you bought this new i would return it ASAP.
while it is usually a fairly easy task to correct pins
it is never a good idea because you could very likely do more damage than good and void any warranty options you have.
a few times though i've taken a flat head screwdriver against the bent pin and straightened them right back into place.
but this is still not recommended on an expensive piece of hardware.
