CPU Socket Lever Not Holding CPU in Place

I recently tried to install my new AMD FX 8320. When I pulled down the lever to lock it in place there was no force, in fact I could lift it right off of the socket. I'm not sure what i'm doing wrong. My motherboard is the MSI 760GM-P34 and before you say the 8320 isn't supported it used to be and I know several people who use this CPU on this motherboard.

Sounds like the socket is faulty. Check your motherboard manual. Contact MSI.

Did you fully latch the lever back down? It fits into a little notch to get it to stay in place.

I can still use the PC with my old CPU in it. In fact that is how i'm replying to you right now so i dont believe this is the case.

I also am sure the lever was all the way down. When I was pulling it there was no pressure needed what so ever.

MSI had 125 Watt processors listed in 2013. They were removed in July or August 2013 from their list because many people had problems with Vishera 125 Watt CPUs. They still work just not great.

Sounds like you need a new MB to get this CPU working well.
