i5-4690k pushing an AMD R9-270 in an As-Rock Extreme4 Z97 motherboard with 12GB RAM. 120GB Corsair SSD Boot and 2TB Toshiba HDD Storage. What is going on here...?
Sometimes for no reason my temps hit 90c +, I didnt notice until the random freezes started happening. Mostly while watching online videos. I attempted to reapply thermal paste, switched CPU coolers, disabled ALL overclocks GPU and CPU, restored BIOs to default, got rid of all startup programs that would bog it down and I still have random freezes. I like to think Im pretty PC savvy...but I am stumped here. The CPU is only 1 year old. GPU is less. my overclocks were mild and I kept up with drivers and dusting my vents. Please help
Also, games run ok 75% of the time, but they too can freeze. Its mostly online videos where it happens the most, and my internet isnt the cause either. That has been tested wired and non wired and off of a different modem.

This isn't a solution, but I have the same issue.
I'm starting to think that it's the voltage surge from my psu.
Did you overclock your cpu by any chance and increased the voltage?
I believe there's also bios setting where you prevent this from happening while sacrificing frequent cpu clock speed drop due to safe-voltage-spike prevention... don't even know what they call it.
