I recently built my first ever gaming pc, and through lots of struggles, youtube videos, and a couple failed bootups, i finally got my baby running. However, when I checked speccy it said the CPU temp is at 109 degrees while doing absolutely nothing. I have the ryzen 7 2700x, msi b450 tomahawk, and the fractal design meshify. The case has relatively good cooling and the stock cooler for the ryzen 7 is also fairly good, I don't think it should be this high at all. Additionally, when I was setting up the LED's inside my case I noticed there was a solid red light that doesn't turn off. I believe its on the motherboard, it's right around the 24 pin amd power plug. I'm quite concerned that I've done something wrong and my PC will stop working. If anyone could offer guidance htat would be wonderful, thanks.

Solution
That temp is 100% fine. Under load your CPU will probably be in the mid to high 60's or even low 70's, again all fine if you are using the stock Ryzen Cooler.

For reference CPU temps are almost always taken and compared in Celsius. As an American I love my freedom units but just keep it in mind.
So for the red light, I looked around and one issue may be is that you have a USB deivce plugged intot he the MSI USB Flash BIOS port, thats the 2nd USB port under the PS/2 connector with the little button next to it. That is for updating the BIOS without a CPU installed. I would remove any device plugged into there and see if that fixes the issue. Page 22 of the maual shows which port I'm talking about https://download.msi.com/archive/mnu_exe/mb/E7C02v1.4-GSE-LITE.pdf

I would also suggest updating your BIOS to the latest available for your motherboard https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/B450-TOMAHAWK.

As far as temps issue, is that 109 Fahrenheit? Because at 109 Celsius your computer would have already done a high temp shutdown to protect itself. Also Speccy has a long history of issues with Ryzen, so if you want to get a more accurate temp use the Ryzen Master Software of HWinfo.

Fahrenheit, yes, sorry should’ve better explained. As for the USB port, the only thing I have plugged in on the motherboard is the ethernet cable. Here's my stats on the ryzeb software - still really high temps.
