CPU temps not reading properly?

I have a AMD FX-8350 cooled by a H80i. The temps I am reading are as follows on the image attached? The Package reads 8C and the CPU reads 28C. Is this normal? Which one should I be reading and worrying about? Thanks ahead of time.

I've found Coretemp and CPU-Z to be the most accurate.

Attached image didn't get attached. If the detected temps are below ambient room temp, these are most likely false. Unless maybe your PC is under a cracked window, and its cold outside or something similar. What are you using to read your temperatures?

Edit: I See the image now.

Temperature: CPU/Mainboard (28c/23c respectively) look like they could be accurate in a cool house with lower ambient temps. Try putting some load on the CPU and respond with the newly detected temperatures, as this is more important than idle temperatures.

I'm currently using "RealTemp" for cpu/gpu monitoring. Its pretty simplistic, listing current, min and max temps for each CPU core, and current GPU temperature.

HWMonitor seems to be the most popular software for producing false temps. But the temp under temperature > CPU seem to be fine.

Try the free software I mentioned, coretemp and CPU-Z.

Why not use AMD Overdrive? It won't provide the actual temperature, but you'll know the thermal margin which is more important for that CPU: http://www.amd.com/en-us/markets/game/downloads

those temp are good dont worry but i would keep a eye on that wd drive at 42 C it is a little bit hot for a data drive see if you could manage to get him some more fresh air from the case front fan .

Use AOD to check your thermal margin while running Prime95. Temperatures are meaningless at idle; thermal margin is what's really important at full load. The higher the margin the better.

Ok, got prime 95. Which temp are you guys looking at? What is too hot? I have had this computer for a while now and wanted to learn more about overclocking and temps and power.

on prime 95 run the test and see what system temp goes to and report back result .

Too hot is when the thermal margin is close to zero. You won't know until you use the correct tool for that CPU.

Ok, I ran AOD and Prim95 and the thermal margin rested between 32.8 - 32.4 C
