Cpu Upgrade or Gpu upgrade

Hi!This is my first or second post on these forums.
My pc specs are
Processor:Intel i5 760 running @ 2.80 GHz
Gpu:TwinTech nVidia Geforce GTX470
2 Hard Drives:ExcelStor Technology J8160S ATA Device 153 GB
ST3250318AS ATA Device 232 GB
Total Ram 2GB
Operating System:Windows 7 32 bit
My question is the following
Should i upgrade my cpu or my gpu?From which upgrade would my pc as a whole benefit?
Keep in mind that while using my pc mainly for gaming i also use it for different university-related projects

The best upgrade you could make for the least amount of money is to add more RAM - the only downside being that you have Windows 7 32 bit version which limited the amount of RAM you can use to 3.2 gb - but even so upgrading to 4gb will still give you a performance increase.

If you have to upgrade either the CPU or GPU then the graphics card would be the more sensible choice, but to get any meaningful gain you would need to speand upwards of £200+

I am probably thinking of getting windows 7 64 bit so that i can use 4 gigs of ram or more
As far as buying a graphics card i was thinking about getting a Sapphire 6970 (PCI-Express, GDDR5, 2GB) or gtx580.Any other ideas?
Concerning cpu i was thinking of getting an i7 2600k.But probably i will upgrade either the gpu or the cpu.

Upgrade RAM and GPU and get Win x64.

GTX 580 is an awesome card!

The GTX470 is still a good card. Consider The HD 7970 that will be out in a few months and can be a better upgrade. The price of the GTX580 will probably drop at that time.

Nothing wrong with your current CPU, go with a GPU upgrade if you require better gaming performance.

What's your budget for a Graphics card? and what resolution is your monitor?

Id also be very tempted to add some more RAM to your build, or even totally replace what you already have.

4GB 1600MHz would be the minimum RAM id recommend, ideally 8GB. Maybe 1333MHz RAM - depends on your motherboard?

Also budget wise i would give up to 400 euros if i get only a graphics card
cmbined with a processor purchase that would drop to 300 350

You need to change that PSU asap.

2x4GB of RAM would be a good upgrade.
