I have a Pentium G4560 and an RX 460 2GB, with 8GB ram. I can currently upgrade to either a GTX 1060 6GB or an i5 7600/i5 8400 w/ new mobo. I am happy with the games I am currently playing, as I can run them at 1080p 60fps, but not when recording. The two main games I am talking about are Overwatch and Fortnite. I use AMD recording software, but if I get the Nvidia card I will use Shadowplay. OBS is also an option. I've heard Shadowplay utilises GPU and OBS can use either.
What I'm asking is, should I upgrade my CPU or my GPU to be able to record Fortnite and Overwatch, and also what recording software should I use.

If you can swing it I would buy the i5 8400 over the 8100. The 8100 will leave you in kinda the same boat. You will also have to buy a new motherboard if you plan on going with the 8th Gen intel.

If you cant afford a new Mobo then maybe try and find a used 7700.

Another option would be to switch to Ryzen, you typically get more cores for cheaper and their Motherboards are almost always cheaper.

I believe I will buy the 8400 for future proofing.
Thank.
