So I have an Asus ROG G701VI laptop and i have been reaching framerates of 300-500 until two days ago, now my laptop struggles to reach 100fps, so I got worried and searched for solutions, so I followed the steps in this video about fps boosting
View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LPypPqtBB7o&t=24s
, after that i followed the steps on this video about overheating
View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KS-5jvB3dwo&t=91s
, I had set my Maximum Processor State to 85% for both, but a day later the Maximum Processor State option was gone.

Here are my specs:
Processor Intel Core i7 6820HK Processor
Chipset Intel CM236 Express Chipset
Memory 64GB DDR4-2,400MHz SDRAM
Graphics Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 with 8GB VRAM

as an added bonus, i was monitoring my GPU and CPU usage percentages
CPU usage was 60-70%
GPU usage was 20-50% max

Please help

I believe this is due to a bottleneck of the gpu which means your processor is not powerful enough you may be able to help this by using a higher quality setting or rendering at a higher resolution and then super sampling. I would recommend that you overclock your cpu but seeing that you are on a laptop I would not recommend this for your laptop may not be able to handle the thermals but if you are confident enough in the cooling power then go ahead and try to overclock the cpu. as for the loss of frames the only thing I could recommend is a proper cleaning because you are probably overheating and the cpu is likely thermal throttling. could you provide what kind of temps you are seeing when the usage is so high but the frames are low. I'm not entirely savvy with intel processors and I have only started working on laptops for like 3 months now I am most knowledgeable in the desktop and amd side I have been doing that for 6 years now. One other thing that could be it have you checked how full your storage is?

I ran tests using Quake Champions

I was getting an average of 50 fps
GPU usage was 50-60% and temp was 70-85°c
CPU usage was 65-70% and temp was 52°c

and as for storage its 282GB used out of 477GB

I would like to know what your idle usage is after you boot into windows don't do anything other than check the usage and temp however it is you like to do that. then I want you to see how many background applications you have running like discord and other things that open automatically these appear in the bottom right in your system tray close as many of them as you can also are there any applications that you like to open and use while you're playing do not use these if possible after you have done all of this check if your idle usage and temps have gone down and then try playing your game with everything else closed and see if there is any difference in usage and temperature.

So after 15 minutes of testing here are the results

This was tested right after startup

CPU Usage it started at 100% then gradually went down it would sometimes reach 50% after a gradual increase then gradually decrease to 3-5% this happened twice in 15 minutes

CPU temp would average 40°c

GPU Usage reached 25% at one point but would go down to 0-5%

GPU temp would average 40°c

I have tried gaming without anything in the tray and from what i could see it stayed at the same percentages as before

and is this every game that this is happening to? in the task manager is the game itself the only process that is creating a lot of usage? Do you have the most recent drivers for your bios, gpu, etc...? Have you installed any new programs or new drivers for anything like a new controller or headset, microphone, speaker and other things like that? Is there any thing you've done recently like a hard reset or reset/flashed the bios updated the graphics driver some of these things may cause problems like just recently they had to do a geforce driver hot-fix because it was causing abnormally high cpu usage.

also have you had any troubles while updating the drivers or resetting/flashing the bios, troubles like them being interrupted by like an accidental shutdown or loss of power like if the battery died loss of internet during the download and having to continue the download when the internet came back. This has happened to me I had the internet cut in the middle of updating my gtx 1080's driver and when I got the internet back it let me continue the download from where it stopped but when it finished I could not even play csgo at more than 36 fps. and I started seeing artifacts in the rendering so I had to reinstall the graphics driver and it was fixed.
