Question CPU Usage spiking to 100%

My computer experiences lag spikes for around up to 10-20 seconds, when it randomly stops responding, for example, I will click a link or close a programme and experience 100% CPU usage and a 'not responding' message at the top of the screen. I've had this problem for ages and I'm fed up of it.

Specs:
CPU- AMD Fx-8350
GPU- Nvidia 1060 3gb
Motherboard- MSI AMD Ryzen AM4 X370
SSD- Kingston SSD A400
Power supply- Corsair 450W
Cooling system- Arctic freezer xtreme rev.2
RAM- 2 x 8 DDR3
2 monitor display (one with 144hz)

Temps? Is the SSD the only drive? Voltages? Happens when you close all programs all the time? Sometimes?

I also have a 1TB hard drive, PC feels relatively hot after gaming for a while and sometimes experience the lag when closing programmes

Please check what motherboard you have, you can’t be using an AM4 motherboard as it would not support your cpu and RAM.

How full is your SSD?

My bad my motherboard is: Gigabyte GA-970 A-DS3P
My SSD is 71% full.

What are the temps of the CPU, VRMs, GPU? Is the OS on the SSD or HDD? Anything in the event viewer?

CPU - Max was 74 Degrees
GPU - Max was 68 degrees
VRM - im not sure where I find the temps for this
OS Is on my SSD.

CPU is overheating, I recall the max temp for FX series was 68c before throttling.

When the lag spikes happen does the cup speed (GHz) drop?

Can you tell me how u put an fx 8350 am3 socket on am4 motherboard???? Smth is wrong here lolz

He already said the board was listed wrong. It's on a 970 board.

Agreed that the CPU is too hot. Try to bring that down.
