Can anyone give me any ideas/suggestions regarding my crappy 3dmark2001se score?

My rig:
P4 2.4b
MSI 645E-Max U (SiS 645DX)
1 x 512MB PC2700 Azen RAM
GeForce 3 Ti 200 64MB
Maxtor 6GB HDD
WD 60GB HDD
SB Live 5.1

and I'm only scoring around 6500 with FSAA turned off, and 5700 with FSAA enabled? Shouldn't I be scoring higher?

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

I reckon you should be nearer 8000 points... In Tom's VGA charts, a P4B 3.06 with a Gf3 Ti200 64Mb gets about 8400...

What OS are you using? some windows versions are considerably better for benchmarking.

Try installing newer detonator drivers is about all I can suggest at the moment - doing this gave me a 40% performance boost on my old geforce - can't remember if it was a Geforce256 or a Geforce2 Ultra..... although it was a couple of years ago now, and you don't usually get increases like that these days.....

$hit Happens. I just wish it would happen to someone else for a change.

I think that's about right with GF3Ti200
but i'm not sure
is it first time you run 3Dmark? or you used to have higher mark before, and getting low now?
you didn't turn on FSAA, did you turn on AA?
also, FSAA should turn off not only in 3Dmark, but also in the your display control panel

I had 44.03 drivers from nVidia installed, but I just re-installed them as they were just WHQL certified..and lo and behold, my score jumped to almost 6600 3DMarks..

I think its still lower than it should be, but its getting better.

heck, mine freezes, sometimes at 21 seconds, sometimes at 2 (!) seconds. Cant even shut down pressing the power button.

2.4c / radeon 9500pro / 512*3200C2

Anyone got any suggestions?

I checked my bios, and all I can see for memory timings is to change the ratio (eg 1:1, 5:6, 4:5) etc.

Post screen shows a CAS of 2.5

Other than that, I can't see anywhere to change anything.

I just found the setting for DRAM timings...what are some goos options to get better performance... I'm not sure what they are now, but if you could give me some ideas, I would appreciate it.

I pulled a dum-dum when I installed my new system. I didn't install the mobo AGP drivers. My score went from 6493 3DMarks to 7730 3DMarks.

GO Me... :)

so are you happy now? good for you
I didn't know that with P4's mobo you would need AGP driver too..I thought that was only for Athlon system like mine..
oops~

Before you start hacking through your BIOS you should probably spend at least an hour or two studying this. My initial score before any BIOS tweaks, that is with all default settings, was around 9000. After tweaks I got it up to 9800. The following tweaks are what I was able to run with my specific hardware. You may find that you can't use all of them (if the system becomes unstable), or you may be able to run all of them and more. Just educate yourself and don't change anything until you know what you're doing. Have fun! 😎

Tweaks that I use:
-Memory timing 2-2-2-5
-4 bank interleaving enabled
-AGP apurture set to 128MB
-CPU fast command decode set to "Ultra"
-AGP Fast write, synch, and the read and write 1 MS settings are all "enabled"

that actually decreases the 3D performance on my PC..hehe, not everyone has the same I guess
in my mobo's manual, AGP Master 1 W/S Write is : The field allows users to insert one wait state into the AGP write cycle.
One more wait cycle, I guess it decreases..right? ^^

I had to uninstall the mobo AGP drivers, they were causing my monitor to basically refresh itself. I'd be surfing the net and my screen would go black and come back, and was causing freezes.

Anybody had similar problems? I tried a second monitor, and I had the same problems.

I tried forcing it, it didn't seem to help...I've uninstalled the drivers for now.

I found the problem with the refresh..it wasn't graphics related at all. It is a common issue with this mobo, if the DRAM timings are changed.

I set the DRAM timings back to default, and presto, problem solved. I've re-installed the AGP drivers, and am now getting 7856 in 3DMark2001SE.

I ran PCMark 2002 last night, and here are the scores I got. Hard drives score is WAY low, think its about time to replace the old relic (6GB Quantum Fireball 5400RPM (ATA33?)).

CPU 5872
MEM 5479
HDD 282
