I am setting up a workstation for home use. I will be using toon boom, after effects, and adobe premier as well as photoshop illustrator and painter. I will mostly be working with video and 2d images ( this machine is dedicated to making animations) but will use some 3-d (open GL) for sceneplanning in toonboom and possibly some work in after effects.
I was planning on using two 3.2 xeon cpus. Looking at the benchmarks for after effects it really seems like they are well optimized for that program, and that they outperformed the Opterons. But, Xeons have been panned in every recent review I've seen. I'm not a tech person and I can't figure out what the problems with intel's architecture really mean. Does that effect how well I can upgrade the system?
I appreciate your help.
