By the way, my dell 700m seemed like this. When I read it very long, i felt uncomfortable after i move my eye out of the screen.

Actually I have the hardware on my Samsung SyncMaster 930b's all the way up on brightness and contrast, but in my software settings I have it set for specific needs: gaming FPS, reading/browsing, and other games. Depending on what I'm doing I can easily flip through different levels. It actually looks pretty good on low brightness... and it's much easier on my eyes than the CRT... the text is still sharper and easier to read on the LCD than the CRT even with brightness turned way down.
