Crucial ram ram detected but not installed?

Hello,

I just installed 1gb of crucial DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) 240 PIN RAM. It's the same kind that is already installed in my Dell Desktop, Optiplex 320. In Bios it shows that 2 sticks of 1 GB RAM is present, but only 1 GB is installed. I made sure the memory stick was properly lodged inside and I have booted the computer multiple times, but I can't figure out what the problem could be. Any help would be appreciated!

Hello and welcome to the forums
Well your first mention that you install 1GB RAM which has the same specs of your older RAM,so did you remove your older RAM? I mean you have 1GB RAM installed on the motherboard but the BIOS reports its 2GB?
If so,then take it out and put it in the first slot, and check if the BIOS reports it correctly or not.
