Thank you all for the caveman comments. It makes me happy to know that I am not the only one with a sick sense of humor. That photo was the very first thing I saw and "holy shit!...it's a motherfuckin' caveman!" was the first thought.
"Encino Man" was my second thought.
"I really hate pauly shore" was my third.

I just think that there are better devices out there for the same money. While I'm not blind to the fact that the parts involved are not cheap, I think that for what it is (a large, touchscreen MID), $500 seems like an extravagant price point for most people, especially when the less tech savvy will likely see it as, "$500 for just the internet and I can only use it when I have internet access?!) Just my opinion.

I also can't shake the original, target price of $299. Boy, would I have snapped one up for $299!!
