Came back from a 5-day trip only to see my original homebuilt PC wasn't responding. Wouldn't wake up from monitor sleep, wouldn't let me VNC in. Reboot and couldn't get a post. Tested PSU with tester, checked out OK. Even swapped out memory, that didn't help. Did hard BIOS reset and nothing. The Post code LED shows FF which means boot attempt, and it always stays on FF after boot, so I'm not sure whats going on.

I built my baby in 2001, shes a Epox 8RDA+ with AMD XP 2600-M and 1gb crucial memory. She had treated me very well in the past, suffering the harshness of dust and failing PSUs, but I think this may finally be the end for her.

My last PSU, an Antec 350W, more or less went out with a bang (atleast thats what it sounded like), dead from dust and cigarette ashes. After I replaced the PSU I noticed the power LED didn't go on anymore, so I'm fearing motherboard damage was undergone during my small bang.

Also when I went away there was mucho thunderstorms, but I don't think lightning could be the culprit if I have everything running through a surge right ?

I honestly think this is the end of her. I do have a spare Asus Socket 462 I could try swapping out, but she will never be the same. Granted my new PC crushes the oldy, I still like to have a network going, and rely on the Radeon 9800 Pro for playing movies on my TV because Nvidia cards simply won't do it.
