[citation][nom]Parsian[/nom]COD MW 1 and 2 didnt even touch CryEngine 2. Despite popular belief, Crysis can be run on p4 system.please check out crymod.com for user created created tweaks and configs to see the capability of the engine (or simply click below and browse previous pages for images)http://www.crymod.com/thread.php?t [...] 0&page=167[/citation]
Parsian, I took a look at the crymod site. That's pretty awesome, although I wasn't questioning the potential visual capabilities of CryENGINE 2. What it's capable of rendering is nothing short of beautiful. But I'm asking, at what frame rate? This is essentially a game engine after all, and so stellar visuals are often thought of as inseparable from frame rate. I was arguing that at mostly medium settings (some low), I didn't think the original version of Crysis looked as nice as the frame rate would've suggested.

And I'm sure Crysis could run on a P4, to a certain extent. I've seen examples of Crysis running on a P3, but that's besides the point.

Here we go with the inevitable "my e-peen is bigger than yours" crap. Just so you all know ahead of time, I don't give a flying frag if your system can run Crysis 2. A boring culture surrounding a boring game.

I'll be more impressed if you can figure out how to properly run W40K: Chaos Gate on your spit-shiny new $4,000 Win7 rig.

Youve seen Crysis on a P3? At low settings or medium MAX???

I want something that would put even way SLI GTX 480 4GB to 10FPS on max settings, with a fifth GTX 480 4GB for physics, and a 5GHz hexacore Gulftown with 12GB of DDR3 2333.
I would be happy then.

The ATi Xenos (GPU inside the Xbox) is a 232 million transistor, 90/65nm 240GFlop processor. 48 shaders at 500MHz.
It also has a 90nm 105 million transistor 500MHz 10MB eDRAM at 256GB/s.
While it is a specially designed, extremely efficient GPU, I'd compare it to a Radeon 4550 for raw power (half a 4670, quarter a 4870, 1/8 an 5870, 1/16 a 5970).
Cryengine 3 looks damned good still on the Xbox 360, so I imagine that spent a stupid amount of time and money just optimizing the engine as much as they could.

The PS3 uses essentially a nvidia 7800, at 550MHz, 300 million transistor 90/65nm, with 256MB of GDDR3 128bit 700MHz for 22.4GB/s.
Weaksauce.

The ATi Xenos is actually based on the R600 core so is akin with the Radeon HD 2000 series not 4000 as you claim. It's raw performance is pretty much in the X1950 range so is comparable to the 7800 in the PS3. No specific PS3 weaksauce. They're both ancient compared to PC lines - remember, the Xbox 360 is over four years old now!

[citation][nom]Bluescreendeath[/nom]Crysis 1 was so graphically advanced that the Xbox360 and PS3 could not run it. Crysis 2 and the CryEngine3 will be available on the consoles so the 360 and PS3 will be able to run it.Thus, by logical conclusion, Crysis2/Cryengine3 will be toned down and less graphically advanced than Crysis1/Cryengine2.PC gamers getting shafted once again by game makers who'd rather make retarded console ports.[/citation]

Nope, your wrong (at least if you believe crytek).

Crysis 2 will look better than crysis 1 on the PC, while scaling down the game for the consoles. Basically, CE3 is CE2 with a few extra graphical goodies, but coded more efficiently for scalability and console porting.

Crysis 2 will look better than crysis 1 on PCs, while Crysis 2 will look like Crysis 1 on consoles.

Everyone wins, cos Crysis 1 still looks better than any console game.

Right, quick count, who of you that have posted own a 360 or ps3, because its YOUR fault developers make console ports, if your not happy with the way things are, boycott 360 and ps3, get your friends to burn their consoles, march in the street and riot.......

This will open the door for any other developer using CryENGINE 3 to introduce 3D support into its PC, Xbox 360 or PS3 game.

Wait I Thought The Shit Box Couldn't Handle 3D Because Of The HDMI 1.2?

Its not out yet nor been fully announced, why prejudge to much?

The DX9 XBox is sure hurting the PC gaming and we equaly have MS to thank that they wont upgrade the ancient console as well as the developers who in their lazyness/greed won't make true games. (True gamers dont play on consoles - Period!)

[citation][nom]Bluescreendeath[/nom]Your statement would make sense if the developers had created higher modes of graphical detail for the PC version, not just DX11. This would include a different set of textures, rendering, different HDR, etc...essentially an entirely different version of the game. Here's a comparison between Crysis 1 and Crysis 2 graphics. Crysis 1 is by far superior.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2WJG14uLA3k[/citation]
That's the point. They DO have better textures and an overall better quality on the PC. They've stated numerous times that they will max out the graphics for all platforms.

Crysis 2 PC > Crysis 1 PC > Crysis 2 Consoles

If it comes out for PC's at all, I probably won't be able to run it, I've switched to ATI for my video card needs. Maybe a month after it comes out, but honestly, if they're going to alienate me for buying ATI then I'm not going to support them by buying their game.

There is no port, Crysis 2 can be running with its editor on the PC with a PS3 and a 360 networked to the PC running their versions of the CE3 AT THE SAME TIME.

Changes made to the PC version update INSTANTLY on the 360 & PS3 with the scale downs built into the engine.

There is no port.

"There are basically no longer any limits to a designer’s creativity"
.. um ..im not a software engineer .. but isn't a "designer’s creativity" based on the ingenuity of the designer and not the hardware?.. i thought programmers were the ones pushing the limits.. not the hardware pushing the programmers.

I'm sure it will be more forgiving than they CryEngine 2 used in Crysis. Kind of a step back, but considering how many people pirated their game rather than buying it it's a bit hard to fault them. Of course, releasing an expensive game that people need an expensive video card to enjoy (remember the 8800GTX was just launched) isn't a great way to make money either.

I don't understand why people complain about Crysis not running smoothly on max settings. I don't see a problem with having a graphical settings that surpass the ability of most hardware at the time. There were a wide variety of settings, but most people just HAD To play it maxed. If you accepted your hardware's limitations and tinkered with the settings, you could get out decent performance on a mid-range system at the time of release.

The game still wasn't very good though. I liked Far Cry a lot. In fact, I liked Far Cry 2 more too even though most people bitch about it. It was more like an awesome tech demo than an actual fun game.

I like 3d for games in theory, but did any of you watch Avatar? (great movie by the way)

I can't help but think 3d gaming will just make everyone Nauseous. I felt sick to my head at points watching Avatar, I am positive I would hurl if I played a 3d shooter.

Can someone please post some Cryengine3 stuff with AA turned on? It feels like all the jaggies are cutting my cornea out.

PS, with tweaked settings, Crysis (which I purchased) looks very good on my dinosaur 8800GT. (100% better than console crap.) However I will admit I'm itching to upgrade.
