[citation][nom]maynardman10[/nom]I rented it for xbox just to check the story out before a purchase, and the frame rate drops are so bad I had to quit playing it. I own a high end PC with a nvidia 580 and I7.[/citation]
I'm a console fan (not for the graphics sorry that doesnt mean everything for me!) and i do have a high end pc but my question is what did you expect? how old is the xbox? 5years?

[citation][nom]TommySch[/nom]Nothing wrong with looking down on the console kids... My GPU could run 2-3 PS3 VMs. Keep in mind that they are the one slowing innovation for everybody.[/citation]
no its piraty, and the strong pc community against drm

But is it me or does xbox look better then ps3? i mean just the particles seems more on xbox and background details seems more on xbox aswell.....that is shocking
why compare the price of a graphic card to the price of a console? should i compare the price of my xbox to ur pc? or better yet build a 200dollar pc with parts dating five years back and lets see which on plays crysis 2 better

the PS3 looks by far the worst, both console versions look like ass and the pc version could obviously have looked a lot better, Crytek really shot themselves in the foot graphics wise which is really what has set them apart from other dev in the past, very disappointing

@invlem

I agree that it's amazing that the consoles while aging are still showing improvement in display. For those laughing about the limitation of of consoles compared to your 600$ video cards keep laughing. With the money I saved on a 360 compared to a top of the line gaming rig I bought a year's worth of diapers and went to Disney world. Yes, that just happened.

[citation][nom]rhino13[/nom]Well as has been mentioned before, I think the standard still is the old Crysis. Heres to hoping that the DX11 patch is of higher quality than Dragon Age's patch[/citation]

what dx11 patch?

I feel bad for the poor saps that bought this POS console port.

Wanna do PC gamers a favor? quit buying console ports and support top down development. Start with the PC, start with dx11 and scale it down for the xbox and ps3 and you can have my money.

Bringing up how PC's 5 years ago are better than today's consoles isn't logical thinking. Buying an xbox/ps3 at any of the current price points is a bargain considering everything you get with the package (2 games[usually] a console, controller, and a harddrive) Most of you are just talking about a graphics card in comparison. You still need the rest of the PC components to run that graphics card. Build a comparable PC and I bet it will run you the same amount of money in the end as a ps3 or Xbox360 would. Of course I'm leaving out displays and speakers but thats apart of both of them.

I'm a die-hard PC gaming fan but the whole logic between performance of xbox/ps3/pc gaming is stupid. These consoles are way past the end of their cycles and should'nt be compared.

Consoles are a bargain, let's leave it at that.

It's pretty bad that I wouldn't have been able to tell the difference between the 3 versions without the prompts. The PS3 and 360 looking similar was to be expected. But what they did to the PC version is inexcusable! The only improvement I noticed was that the fire and explosions looked "better" on PC, but I might just be imagining things.

Crysis 1 set the bar for PC graphics, it even started the "but can it run..." meme, now Crysis 2 is going to be a punchline, something along the lines of "what can't run crysis 2?"

I'm sure piracy will yet again be used as a scapegoat for this, and people need to realize piracy has nothing to do with it, just money, and lack of interest in the fanbase and platform that helped make Crysis/Farcry what it is today.

Pretty much confirmed what I already thought. Crysis should be watched, not played.

It's quite amusing how people still try to compare current gen PCs to consoles from 5 years ago, but they go on thumping their chest declaring "me PC, me big boy, me FTW"...lol really sad. Of coarse PCs will beat out consoles, and they always will as consoles are a fixed hardware, where PCs are always being updated. However, consoles have their software optimize and improve over time, where PCs keep throwing more HP at the same problem. In watching the videos, by far the PC had the best frame rate (as it should) and in most places the graphics were superior, but to my trained eye (I do hold a BFA in Media Arts & Animation) the PS3 had the best lighting. It was especially obvious at the part with the two soldiers standing by the helicopter, there was no shading on the soldiers nor on the side of the helicopter for the PC version. What is sad is that the developers never really get a chance to optimize for the PC as there is so much new hardware constantly being thrown around to 1up each other, plus they have to cater to the low end PCs and the broad range of setups. In any case the price difference between PCs and consoles is huge compared to the little in return.

I thought it was because Far Cry/Crysis were bad games lol? Crytek has a fanbase?

Exactly. You have to blind to see that all three look pretty much the same. Its just sad that Crytek doesn't allow the PC's to stretch their GPU muscles. There is no way my 2 5870 in CF should look ANYTHING like a console, but here we have Crysis 2. You could have 1000 580GTX's in SLI and it will only look marginally better than a 6 year old 360. That tells you everything you need to know.

Some ppl look down the console by comparing a multi platform game, i guess they never seen console exclusives such as gears of war, uncharted 2, god of war 3, heavy rain, gran turismo 5, killzone 3 and so on. doesn't matter you have 10 cpus with 5 graphic cards, the game doesn't like 10 times better. if you are really a gamer you wouldn't mind playing on any platform even on sega genesis, coz its a game still, unless you are graphic whore, not really a real gamer!

You realize that we don't need $600 graphics cards to beat your ass silly, as it has already been said, a $90 card (5750) beats the *** out of consoles, so a $400 PC (that's with a display, something consoles don't have) already creams you.

And in fact, with a PC, you don't even need to have a TV, so basically I just saved $600 on TV, which I used to buy an AK-47 and pop one in yo diaper-wearing, disney-going cap.

Thank you. Exactly what I was thinking. Gamers play games regardless of platform or the visuals. I've been building computers for about 15 years now and am a gamer on all platforms. I started playing games in the 80's at the arcade when everybody else had a Nintendo. I realized something. When I first got my NES, I wasn't sitting there comparing Mario to Shinobi (Arcade). They were both fantastic games with their own unique gameplay. After that, I got a Genesis. After that, I got a computer and Wolf3d, after which I got Doom. I didn't draw any comparisons between the three - Nintendo, Genesis, Computer. Three different platforms do three different kinds of games uniquely. I have a 4870x2 right now, a little dated but still a great card. I'm not worried about the visuals as I am frames per second. If a game doesn't run 60+ on my comp (many of them), I simply turn the resolution or AA or any other option down to compensate. The gameplay is what matters most and if we're talking about an FPS, everybody should know that, unless you're buying the game for the visuals, which in that case you're not a real gamer. If you wanna max out your graphics cards, get 3dMark Vantage or just play older games in software mode lol.

This is a bad attitude. I don't understand why PC only gamers hold this strange view. Sure, there are instances when I've gotten pissed at stupid console ports (Invisible War) but you can't get mad at console gamers for it. You must blame the developer. It is their choice. You can argue that they don't have a choice if they wish to stay in business, but many indie companies are releasing games now on Steam, 360 arcade and PS Network that are very good and are selling very well. Its people like the above that developers have to try and avoid making games for.

I don't understand the point of comparing this crappy port to PC when this game isn't even graphically optimized to it. If Crysis 2 was DX11 with all other optimizations consoles graphics in comparison would look badly outdated.

well, crysis2 has lesser graphical's effect than crysis1 (shader uses are minimal), cheap physic, no wonder it smooth out the graphics. yeah, everyone can play crysis now.

what makes this crysis2 looks better, because it has buit-in AA and good textures. overall, good looking but seems more static rather than a dynamic world in crysis1.

Good point.

[citation][nom]soldier37[/nom]This is why I no longer game on my PS3. My PC is 6 generations ahead of it in hardware. I game at 2560 x 1600 res now and there is no comparison what so ever. Doesnt even come close to looking the same. But hey if your 15 its great for you to game on console where you dont care about pretty graphics you just want the gameplay.[/citation]

i didn't see much difference between the 2 consoles. when i buy a console i go for reliable hardware which is why i got a PS3.

my 500$ PC can not only run crysis 2 better than your xbox\ps3, but also capable of getting wide variety of tasks done. It is a PC dude, its no a gaming box. If you looking for a fair comparison, compare pc gpu and your console. Or otherwise make console do other things PC can with only hardware available. You can't, because one is meant to do everything and the other just gaming.
If you got 2000$ to spare, than yes, i guess you can waste it on either 2000$ rig (that will probably out perform next-gen consoles) or xbox with 300$ TV plus dozens of games.

What is up with consolification?
I am not even biased, i would love for console to be a better or equal gaming solution. However, i can't say it is so today.

I like the visual aspect of Crysis. But the physics is terrible.
Hate the fact that i can't play with dead bodies, and these yet alive mutating people of New York. Cry engine is more suitable for another COD movie. But that's just me...
