As a last resort I opted to reinstall Windows 10. BUT for some reason it will not let me do that!

The following error-message shows up when I want to reset Windows:

SystemSettingsAdminFlows.exe – Bad Image

C:\WINDOWS\WinSxS\amd64_microsoft-windows-servicestack_31bf3856ad364e35_10.0.18362.710_none_5f52d84058d0677f\ReserveManager.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support. Error status 0xc000012f.

I am able to press past this message and then it goes on resetting Windows. But then it always just gets to 5%.

And then it says:

There was a problem resetting your PC. No changes were made.

I have tried this several times with the exakt same results.

Why? The laptop works just fine right now.

So it's running Windows 11 just fine now? That means starting up as expected, on first try as it should? If so, why do you wish to revert to Windows 10?

If you prefer Windows 10 then it looks like you need to do a clean install as the image saved after upgrading to Win11 may be either corrupted or too far outdated. When you do a clean install delete all existing partitions first. Run a backup first to save your important files, of course. Also, download and create fresh installation USB image as shown in the instructions below.

If you're actually running Windows 10 now you need to do a Repair Install with In Place Upgrade, as below. And be sure to download and create a fresh installation USB image as shown in instructions. With an in-
place upgrade repair it should save all settings and user files, but a backup is still recommended for safety sake.

Whatever "reset" you tried to do is not a "reinstall".

For an actual reinstall, you boot from a properly built WIn 10 or 11 USB, and DELETE all existing partitions.

Here, Win 10:

Win 11 is 99% the same.

Windows 10 Pro right now. And it encounters all kinds of strange problems. Cannot update som drivers. Cannot reset and so on.

Going to try this now. If i succeed :) But I still do not see the connect to SSD not detecting on cold boot.

I'm pretty much guessing but I wonder if there could be drivers needed for your particular SSD or controller at startup, which operates differently from a Windows restart. I'd suggest look to the laptop manufacturer's support site for a system recovery disk image which will (or should) have all necessary drivers for accessing the hardware during startup.

Some updates to my computer-drama:

Trying to create a recovery drive so that I can wipe the harddrive and reset Windows 10 Pro. BUT, it won´t allow me to do that. It just halts the process and says:

Windows 10 Recovery drive error - Can't create a recovery drive on this PC

Next I run: dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth

Error: 0x8000ffff

DISM failed. No operation was performed.
For more information, review the log file.

Is this a Virus???

What is your system. I believe it to be a laptop so include complete model number.

If it is a laptop you're miles ahead by using a recovery disk provided by the laptop manufacturer that's specific for the model instead of trying to build one from what seems to be a corrupted Windows installation. It should set your laptop up "as new", the way it was when you unboxed it, with all the drivers needed to utilize all it's hardware. Then you can go about updating it using Microsoft Update and the update utility it provides which will ensure you get compatible driver updates.

Phew, finally. Some progress. Still don´t know if Cold Boot problems persists. Will see that tomorrow at cold start. But now Windows 10 is back and working fine. Hopefully this time without any corrupted files :)

THANK YOU ALL FOR THE SUPPORT! WITHOUT YOU THE LIKES OF ME WOULD NOT MAKE IT FAR!

You did a clean install which involves deleting all of the partitions on your drive?
