Hello.

I just installed CrystalDiskInfo on my Desktop and it came up with an alert about Current Pending Sector Count.

Is this serious? I have all data backed up on external HDD but I would like to know what this means and if I should replace my Hard Drive or if there is something that can be done to correct this alert.

The details show:
Current - 100
Worst Value - 100
Threshold - 0
Raw Values - 000000000001

Thank you in advance for your help.

Here it is the full report

run chkdsk and see if the sector can be remapped. it often shows up when data needs to be moved off a bad sector. it can be caused bt a restart while the hdd is writing or bad memory causing data corruption or worst of all physical damage to the disk...
if its just bad data then chkdsk will fix the sectors checksum if its bad data then its app will crash consistently till you reinstall it. if its physical damage then that sector will be remapped out to another part of the drive but the damage is likely to spread.

your sector count may be set to 1 but directly under is the uncorrectable sector count which is still at 0 which means its a data fault that chkdsk can handle.

Thanks for your reply HEXiT.

I ran chkdsk and the alert is still showing up on CrystalDiskInfo.

Since no reallocation has ocurred so far, is it possible that some zero-writing over the disk will fix the problem?

I have system image and data backups so I wouldnt bother doing it, if it prevents getting worse.
