custom water cooling sli and overclock cpu

I was thinking of getting 2 1080ti's and overclocking them...CHOICES are ASUS POSIEDON, MSI SEAHAK EK X, EVGA FTW3 (I HOPE THEY COME OUT WITH A EK WATERBLOCK OPTION CAUSE I LOVE THE DUAL BIOS OPTION FOR OVERCLOCKING) I want to water cool my whole system(mobo and all) for the first time(see rig in sig). I am a newbie in this area and want to incorporate water cooling into my hobby of computers... I have a HAF X. ASUS MAXIMUS VII FORMULA, 4790K @4.4 everyday and 4.8 for gaming only..... I have 2 780ti classifieds now that I am replacing...I was hoping that an EK X360 kit mounted inside with one additional 140mm radiator w/ an EK-vardar fan,or led phantec( I have two red led phantek fans140mm) 140mm fan mounted externally would be enough....140mm rad would have two be externally mounted for space or can be mounted inside the case near the large 230mm led cooler master fan that came with the case, or I can mount the 360mm rad in pull configuration making room for 140mm rad to be mounted inside due to the fans being mounted on top for the 360mm rad..... what to do???

500mm of rad space should be enough and will fit in my case as 360mm + 140mm.

I don't know if I need the extreme EK kit but it has good reviews..i think 2m of tubing is not enough though!!

my budget for water cooling is $500 .......ANY SUGESTIONS !!!!!!!
IS 500MM ENOUGH?......

or sould I just water cool the 1080ti's and leave my NOCTUA DH-15 , which is doing a great job, cooling cpu(temps never above 70c under full load), because I believe ther is pleanty of room for a 360mm rad (in pull configuration)between the cpu cooler and top of HAF X case......
 




The kit comes with the Reservoir and the pump. The kit ONLY COOLS YOUR CPU!!!!!!!
In order to cool your graphics cards, you NEED TO GET A SEPARATE PUMP AND RESERVOIR!!!!!!!!
 
Water cooling can be very confusing. I still get mixed up now, and I've been doing it for years.
If you were to go for a single loop, it would cost you over a thousand dollars, like mine did.
A single loop for only your CPU, would cost over $300. But since we are getting a pre-configured kit, its $200.
That kit only has enough radiator and pump power (and reservoir space) to cool a single component (your CPU)
In order to cool anything else (2 x 1080ti) we will need a new loop to cool those.

I just saw some pics of haf x cases with x360 rad inside on top and x240 rad external where 140mm exahust fan is......maybe its worth not going with 140 or 180mm internal after all.... still want one pump and res tho
 
Both of the GPU blocks add up to about $260. Even if you don't count them, it's still very expensive.



What about them? XSPC, Primoflex, Cooler master and more make the same quality components.
If you were to go 360 and 240, it would work better but the only choice you have for keeping it under $500 is getting 2 loops.
 
LETS START FRESH!!!!! My BUDGET IS $1000.00

1. How much rad space do I need????? BIGGEST QUESTION BERFORE I PROCEED!!!! I might have to mod IDK..
2. I would like to have 10c delta T.
3. is reservoir size make a difference? I like the photon 170 for size ...
 
1) The usual guide I give to water cooling beginners is 120mm per component. But that's only to keep things cool. For anyone that has expensive components (gtx 1080ti) I recommend between 180mm and 240mm per part.
2) Only 10C? That won't be very hard to achieve. You'll probably see at least 15c. What is your base temperature? (to calculate)
3) As for reservoir size, it depends on how many components. The Photon 170 will be fine, but anything under that is risky and can lower your Delta T (less available coolant = less distributed coolant per part)

If your new budget is $1k then you can pretty much afford any loop. You can experiment with the custom loop configurator at EKWB.com, as I will be unavailable for a short time so my next parts list for you may come in a couple hours.

1. please note that I only have 75mm clearance from the top of my case to the mobo armour on my asus maximus vii formula. anything thicker will probably hit vrm shroud armopur. 120mm fans are 25mm thick whick leaves us 50mm or less to work with for the internal 360mm rad .

2. I would like a quiet , single loop system with a drain that I can overclock all GPUS in SLI( max 2) and CPU(4790k 4.8ghz). please include all parts . I don't think I need push/pull configuration, but if so, DO IT!!!! I don't have to get LED fans, but I do like RED just in case

3. I if you think the additional radiator should be 360mm to give a total of 720mm. I am ok with that...I have included a pic to show how that is modded. I AM VERY HANDY!!!! AND THICKNESS OF RAD WONT MATTER THERE...although I have read the rad thickness contributes little , its more about rad surface....

5. if you think, WHICH I DONT THINK YOU DO!!!!) that I could use a 180mm, 140mm, or a 120mm as the second radiator, then all of these options can be mounted inside the case.. BUT,,,,IF I AM GOING TO SPEND THIS KIND OF MONEY ON MY SYSTEM, THEN I HAVE CHOSEN TO GO THE DISTANCE....

6. THE BUDGET IS $1000, HOWEVER I AM FLEXABLE...this is my only hobby and it has already been fun learning about water cooling. I cant wait to build it.... I saved for a YEAR....ALL MY FREINDS TOLD ME TO TREAT MYSELF. WELL, HERE IT IS!!!!!!!!!!!!PLUS I can use these parts when I upgrade my mobo and cpu in a few years anyways..

7. PLEASE NOTE. I will be getting 2 1080ti's with a water block already included... I LIKE ASUS POSIDON , BUT MAY GO EVGA DUAL BIOS if they come out with one with a waterblock cause I will want to rasie power target and voltage under water or may even buy FTW3 and install a water block.... DUNNO YET. don't include gpu water tho

The total for these parts is just under $500. I included everything that you will ever need except for fittings, tubing and coolant because everyone has a different taste when it comes to how their loop looks. If you add in that cost ($250 MAXIMUM) then you have yourself a very good and quiet cooling loop for $750.
