Hi!

For a saving, I think I will make a case from timber or the like. I have one ´question in my regarding the Power ON, OFF connector to the mainboard. As I do not think i can get that swich or able to mount them on the case, I think that I can work around buy just connect the two pin in the mainboard power switch , using metal wire. Can anyone tell me if that works OK.

Regards.

Wow... Now this is a unique question! Do you mean permanently connect the power switch pins like with a jumper? You shouldn't do that. The power switch has different functions depending on when it is pressed. (Power on, Power off if held for 7 seconds, and you can set it to invoke hibernate as well)

But if you mean just hang a couple of wires attached to the power switch pins out somewhere where you can short them, then I guess it would work. That's all the power switch does anyway.

I can understand modding a case to make it custom, but building a case from scratch?

I would think it would be easier to pay $40 and get a basic case/PSU. You're gonna have to but the PSU anyways, and that gonna cost as much or more than a case/PSU.

my college rommate and i did fun stuff like this... mounted a micro-ATX mobo in an old sears record player...
you just need wires with connectors (pull from old junk case). somehow connect (solder, crimp, tape, etc.) the wires to a cheapo switch. just head to radio shack or something and get a standard push-button switch for $1.50 or something cheap like that (not a clicky one but just a button... too tired to think of what it's really called)

ATX contact is momentary power. You can get power switches from Radio Shack that will mount in plywood.
