D865GLC Moboard, need Video card

I just received a computer for free, 80gig harddrive, Pentium 4 3.0ghz, 2x512mb ram. Was an upgrade for me. Mobo has 3pci slots and 1agp. what is the best video card that i can use in it. i will be upgrading the ram and vid card.

preciate any advise or any more needed info.

The best is probably an HD4670 AGP, though this is around $90. Possible processor bottlenecks too.

Current video card was put in from the dell. I knew it sucked before, but its better than the onboard.
I use the computer for basic surfing, occasional DVD (haven't installed from the dell), and occasionally play WOW with some friends. Though it would be nice to beable to just build from scratch, money won't allow it.




I'll look at the 4670, what kind of bottlenecks?

The GPU could be more powerful than the CPU, causing a choke. Though I am unfamiliar with the speed of Pentium CPU's compared to speeds of a Core-2-Duo.

any other opinions? found some ram on ebay for cheap, will be going 4gb. And it doesnt look as if i can upgrade the processor any higher.

What would be a good choice to keep down on the bottlenecking as well?

Overclocking your processor if you can would be extremely beneficial. RAM, HDD, it doesn't matter. The processor and graphics card are lovers who go hand-in-hand. They give the most FrameRate influence, and they alone, will decide the capabilities of your PC.

A 4670 is your best bet unless you got the cash for a 3850 agp or lucky enough but older a 7800gs. I used to do agp on my secondary box. On my retro box I still use a 3DFX voodoo 5 5500 (hehe who said dual gpu agp card wasn't possible). One of the last options you can do is a 6800gt/ultra for agp if you are only seeking to run older games.

only game i'd play would be world of warcraft, and im not doing any 25mans yet, hell havent even bought wrath expansion yet.

The 7800gs when I had it really did the job when playing wow but that was when I was a noob and played on stock settings. So if you can a 3850/3870 is the best for ATI (256bit vs the 128 on the 4670) but if you are not into Nvidia well I have already had that card that being 7800gs.
