I've been trying to figure out what is the problem with my pc after i force merge partitions with data using a third party program. When my computer starts it turns off and on again after a few seconds and dont stop until i unplug it.

Questions I ask:

- Is my hdd damaged?
- Does a damaged hdd will make my pc to behave like that?
- If hdd is not the prolem, can you tell me what part of the system might be damaged? im sure its not psu i have spare working psu and tried swapping
- How to solve my problem?

My specs (if needed):
i3 4160
2x4gb ram
1tb toshiba hdd
ga-h97m-d3h
gtx 750 ti
vs450

Solution
Sounds like the data got scrambled merging those partitions.

It amazes me how many people will go down the dangerous to save a little effort or money.
All you needed to do is put the data on partition 2 onto an external hard drive, usb drive, or hell even cloud storage.
Then delete that partition, extend partition 1, and put your data back on.

Now you likley have the data on both partitions destroyed.

Your hard drive is not physically damaged (or at least what you described would not have damaged it, I have no way of knowing if you had any disk errors or bad sectors before this).

Of course a hard drive with trashed data will make it not boot right, its likely that your partition table is completely trashed and the bios is having...

You will need your windows installation CD, then boot form that and see if you get really lucky and a system repair can fix your partition tables.
More likely you will need to do a full windows install.

Now to answer the next question I am foreseeing:
No you cant get your data back. You should in general always have a backup of at minimum your data if not an image of your enitire hard drive, but even more-so when you do something risky like this.

Solution

I happen to have led fans so its easy for me to spot if the pc is turned on or off. When i try to start the pc with hdd disconnected. It turns on for a sec then immediately turns off completely.

I dont have a external drive to use to back up the files and i dont have enough internet speed to redownload 400gb of data once i merged the partitions. I needed to merge it as soon as possible so i did that taking the risk

It didnt even show the boot menu. Black screen all throughout.

How do i fix this? Please help me

That is not normal. Any diagnostic pc beeps?
You should be able to enter BIOS at least.
Something is broken. As to what exactly - it's hard to tell.

Possible causes - motherboard, psu, gpu, may be some external device is causing the problem.

I already bought a good quality psu (seasonic s12ii) because i thought that psu was the broken component but when i tried it with a new psu the problem is still there
