Dangerous to Keep running a defective card?

I know my ATI 4890 is defective, however, I would like to know if it will still run until i get it repaired by asus. I still need it currently. It is running at standard temperatures however, its memory is apparently defective because i get BSODs when running more graphically intense programs.

Is this dangerous to the motherboard? or what ?

If you run it only in 2d you are fine. But if you are going to send it to ASUS any way it has to come out.
