I thought that everybody kept warning for months that it wouldn't be twice as fast. I even saw some posts here which mentioned 7% average increase in performance -- 20% is certainly better than that
The benchmarks were just what I expected -- 10+% increase overall, but almost double pure memore performance (which isn't seen in real-world applications).
Consider this: Crucial is selling DDR for the same price as SDR SDRAM.
That's 10+% performance increase for *FREE*!!! How can anyone buying a new system possibly complain?
(those of us who JUST bought our SDR power-systems hate you all though
It is sure interesting for new PC buyers, but 10% increase performance might not worth it for people with more up to date systems. I will not pay that much money (new mobo + new 256 MB ram) for a 10% increase. And btw, the DDR memory Crucial sells at the price of SDR is PC1600 and not PC2100, I think PC2100 will cost much more. And another question, does anyone knows if the mobo heats more because of increased bus speed (133Mhz)?
