Ddr2 in a ddr3 board

Thanks for the replies. I can either wait for the price of ddr3 to drop or sell it on ebay. It was too good of a bargain to pass up. Someone certainly screwed up at newegg. Never seen one of these this cheap.

It WONT fit... DDR3 sticks are "notched" differently to avoid accidental use in ddr2... (says so in my P5KC manual)... It can accept both ddr2 and ddr3 and it DEFINITELY is notched differently... WONT fit... I promise you buddy.. Sell it off..

Absolutely incorrect - DDR2 and DDR3 are keyed differently and will NOT fit into the same slots. Boards listing both have a pair of slots for DDR2 and another pair for DDR3.

^Agreed.

absolutely correct..

looking at a ddr2/3 combo board as I type (msi p35 Neo combo if interested), and it has one pair of slots with notch near center (ddr2), and one pair of slots with notch about 1/4 way from one end (ddr3).

as I originally said, if you can get it to fit, your stronger than I
