Hello! I am currently using an old pc which has a 2GB DDR2 RAM 667MHZ, if I add another 2GB DDR2 RAM of 800MHZ, will I be facing any problem or everything will be ok? Motherbaord supports 1066MHZ(O.C) RAM. CPU- Core 2 Duo 2.9GHZ. Thanks.

Solution
Dont overclock on G31 chipset, you can max out probably 333MHz as I have G31M-S2L, I still have 2 same boards.

If you really wanna good PC, for a budget get over to 1155/6, heck even an 1150 with G3220 and 4GB of single ram should work better than any Quad Cores of 775 at stock.
Normally, DDR2-800 would down clock to DDR2-667 memory timings, but nothing is guranteed, always good practice to get same speed memory.

I would see if it is cheaper to get matched set of ebay, should find DDR2-1066 dirt cheap, whcih would give a little performance boost to an older PC.

I have little knowledge about overclocking, it is written on mobo box that it supports RAM 1066MHZ (O.C), how do I o.c the ram or what do I have to do?

My motherboard is Gigabyte S-series G31M-ES2C, it supports max 4GB RAM, I am thinking about buying this one https://www.amazon.in/Kingston-KVR800D2N6-2G-Channel-Desktop/dp/B0012Y0QT8/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1532533015&sr=1-1&keywords=ddr2+ram or https://www.amazon.in/Kingston-Valueram-KVR800D2N6-2G-Non-ECC/dp/B003N64O6E/ref=sr_1_2?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1532533015&sr=1-2&keywords=ddr2+ram
Plz suggest.

I didnt understand anything you said 🙁

In short i meant that upgrading 775 is kinda pointless, its 12 year old technology, i have UD3R with 6GB of ram and yes it can run games smoothly at 30fps.

Well you can add 800mhz ram to 667 without issue at all, since chipset will handle it well.
The oc stands if you are going to oc the cpu, for example, the rated fsb will go higher since you cannot change the ddr2 divider and at 1333 oc. It will hit the wall, usually around 300 fsb, unless you have 1066 ddr2 at 2.1V.
Yeah I know confusing at start.

Many thanks to you :) . Btw I visited computer shop with my pc and they told me that I shouldn't buy anything more than GT 710 on this motherboard as I have core 2 duo E7500 2.9ghz and DDR2 ram, they also told me that I should buy GT 710 ddr3 not gddr5 on this motherboard, can you plz advice me on this. They told me that they can assure me of not having any problem with upgradation according to them. I wish to buy GT 1030 but they told me not to, and core 2 quad isn't available as my mobo (gigabyte G31M-ES2C) doesn't support more than core 2 quad.

Thanks for your reply, it was easy to understand what you wrote. My pc is 9 years old. My motherboard is Gigabyte S-series G31M-ES2C, there is nothing written more than that on both mobo box and system utility tool, yes it supports Core 2 Quad as per written on box, doesn't know if it supports Core 2 Extreme. Core 2 Quad is not available, I have tried 6 shops and I don't want 2nd hand on my old pc. My config will be like this-
Core 2 Duo E7500 2.93ghz
Ram 2*2GB DDR2 800mhz
Motherboard G31M-ES2C
PSU 450W
Monitor- Samsung S19F350 (can use VGA port only)
Graphics card- anything that will not cause any compatibility problem or bottleneck etc and supports directx 11.
Please help me, some shop owners said no upgrade can be done, some said GT 710 is the max card that I can buy etc. My HDD is 7.2k rpm, I will buy a new HDD too.

You can order from china Q6600 for 10$, which I've done to 2 my Q6600's, and both were G0 version.
For GPU, if you are scared about used, dont be, you can pair 750Ti with Q6600 or Q8400 (i tend towards Q8400 because SSSE4.1?) and you have pretty good low end gaming PC, capable of 720P 30 fps most of games.

Also that mobo supports Quad Core without any issue, I dont see personally any difference between revisions, only high TDP dont support like 130W+.

Aliexpress is good for old cpus.

Does your psu have pci-e power connectors? as if you can look at the used markets theres cards like the 650 ti, 660 for cheaper but perform much better.

I really dont want to use used components on my old pc, plz tell me what should I buy among GT 710 gddr5/GT 730/GT 1030 when other pc components will be same as mentioned before.
