DDR2 Same as DDR

I read a article over at www.legendmemory.com and it said that there is no such thing as DDR2 memory modules -

Article: Dual Channel DDR structure uses Twin Bank mode, and requires two memory modules plugged into the appointed DIMM slots in order to enable 2 Channel DDR. There is no such thing as Dual Channel DDR Memory Modules. Regular DDR is installed two modules at a time, each module controlled by a separate channel of the memory controller.

If that is the case, I could possibly fit standard DDR400 ram to a mainboard that supports DDR2?

LMAO, that's not what it says at all! It says NOTHING of DDR2 in that article!

What it does say is, there's no such thing as Dual Channel DDR Memory Modules. That's true. A Dual-Channel module would be 128-bit. There is no such thing. Dual channel uses a pair of single 64-bit modules in parallel.

Nothing there at all about DDR2. DDR2 is something complete different. DDR2 can be run in single-channel or dual-channel mode. So can standard DDR.

DDR2 has a different connector than DDR. It runs a different voltage. And the big difference in the memory is that it's terminated differently.

As Crashman said, you are getting DDR2 and Dual channel mode mixed up.

DDR2 = A new type of RAM not compatible with DDR

Dual channel = Cobines two 64bit modules into a single logical 128bit module, can be used with both DDR and DDR2

DDR memory modules have 184 pins.
DDR2 memory modules have 240 pins.

One will not fit in the others slot.
