DDR3 1333 - why are there pc3-10600, 10660 and pc3-10666?

the local store in our area only sells PC3-10600.

After researching around, i found that there are pc3-10600, pc3-10660 and some pc3-10666.

At newegg.com, there's only 1 pc3-10600 (trancend tripple channel), there's also only 1 pc3-10660 (geil dual channel), which raised some red flag.

so i was wondering, are these all the same?
will there be some compatibility issues?
should i stay away from these ddr3?

or is it just naming?

thanks

If i'm understanding your question correctly. Yes they are all the same.

Yes you should stay away from ddr3 unless your using a cpu that is an i7.

If your looking to do an upgrade then make sure you match up your ram with your motherboard. your motherboard should support ddr2 or ddr3 [ddr(1) for a legacy computer]. These need to match up.

yea. im looking for ddr3 rams for my corei7.

im currently making some listing of things to buy.

it just bothers me that there are different numbers - 10600/10660/10666

Hi,

I have 4 memory modules, 2x1GB Centon PC3-10600 and 2x1GB PC3-10666, they are not compatible, why? Simple, some latencys that the memory have on internal chips.

If you want quality memories, PC3-10666 are the right way (667 MHz).

If you want value memories, PC3-10600.

I hope that this help. :bounce:

Regards!!

PC3-10666 isn't 667Mhz unless i got it confused. I just ordered 10666Mhz ram and their 1333MHz says where i ordered them from. As for what one to go with the 10666mhz one would be a lot better.

Just make sure your motherboard supports the DDR3 versions before u buy em If they do than grab a pair or two of 10666.

Yes you should stay away from ddr3 unless your using a cpu that is an i7.

Why, I am working on putting together a computer for my first build. So far I have Cooler Master GX Series RS650, And an AZZA Solano 1000R, And an Intel E8500 Core 2 Duo,.....And I just ordered and got the motherboard, I got a Gigabyte GA-EP45T-USB3P.

It says The Motherboard supports the Intel Core 2 cpu's and onlr supports ddr3 memory. So am in in trouble with the parts that I ordered?
Like I said this is my first time attempting to build a computer.?
