DDR4 3000 showing up as "1200mhz" and "DDR4 2400"?

In CPU-Z, under SPD, the part number reads "DDR4 3000 2OZ" but the max bandwidth reads "DDR4 2400 (1200MHz)".
Some more info that's under the "Memory" tab: DRAM Freq. 1500.0 MHz, NB Freq. 4200.0 MHz.

Idk what any of this means but shouldn't the dram freq be 3000 and the max bandwidth read DDR4-3000?

My question is: Did I get ripped on my sticks of ram?

Also I had to go into bios and set the freq to 3000 from 2400. I still don't know why that wouldnt automatically set to 3000 after just plugging it in if they are true ddr4 3000s?

3000Mhz on RAM is an overclocked state. 2400 is the default for the board you have. You could try using the XMP (Intel) or DOCP (AMD) profile to see what frequency it will run.

The 3000 is a marketing term. It is the fastest the vendor tested the RAM. There is never a guarantee that it will run that fast in your specific motherboard. As they used to say in car commercials "Your mileage may vary" ...

And in the task manager it shows that the speed is 2667 MHz

My question: According to your answer 2998 should be my default for my board, but why the speed in task manager shows 2667? thx
