Dead card :(

So my graphics card finally died afte many years of use. Wondering if anyone could give me a good recommendation for new graphics card without bottlenecking to much. Have a ASUS P5E LGA 775 Intel motherboard with a wolfdale 8600 in it.

Budget isn't a problem. Just didn't want to bottleneck it to much. Sure somewhere deep in the forums I have another forum about this not exactly the same type though. Been awhile so know new cards are on the market. Bit of an ati fan though doesn't really matter. Know said budget doesn't matter but that doesn't mean build a new computer. I plan on it but also plan on keeping this one going also.

Have a Core 2 duo 3.6ghz
4 gigs of ram
psu 850
had a 1 gig HD 4870 which ran everything great.
Should I just re-buy that 1 again or is there anything out on the market that I could use without bottle-necking too much? Wouldn't a 6950 be severely bottle-necked by the setup?

^ it wont be bottlenecked, but you will notice games that take advantage of quad core CPU's wont run as well as you'd like them to.

Thanks! I could put in a socket 775 quad or would there be much of a point against my 3.6ghz duo other then certain applications taking advantage of quad. Mainly just do gaming on the machine and know that list is not the biggest yet on games that support quad. Should I change up the CPU also?

What about 2 6950s? Or would crossfiring those 2 be too much for the system?

Does have crossfire but I can't do anything with the I series yet mobo only supports 775. Will build a new one later down the road just wanted to keep this one going for a second gaming machine for my gf.

A card like that and a cpu... It's like running a 4870 on a pentium 4. Anyway best route to go is a 5770(best for price and is better than a 4870), 6850(best for stock), or 460(best OC). the CPU will be the minimzer to the 6950. Crossfire is for PC fanboys any way. A true gamer uses his 15inch dell monitor, single 5770, amd althon 2 x4 2.9.

This true gamer hasn't played wow in 5yrs FYI so stop being a asshole, Your a little daddy's boy and get anything you want like that system you have. Oh and i'm a crosscountry runner while you probably are 12 and play vid games all day long. I'm 20 and was in the army. Hell I still play my SNES with super mario bro's.
