Question Debug LEDs are off

Hello,

I'm having trouble with my workstation build. I've installed the CPU and RAM, but I haven't added any PCIe cards yet. I do have three Samsung 990 EVO Pro M.2 drives installed.

The issue is that the CPU and DRAM LEDs are flashing red in an alternating pattern. However, the 7-segment debug LEDs are not illuminating. Despite this, the motherboard is powering up correctly, and the integrated fans are spinning. As a result, I'm unable to boot into the BIOS. I'm wondering if the motherboard is defective, given that the 7-segment debug LEDs are not active. Shouldn't they be lit up by default? Unfortunately, the manual and OEM support haven't been helpful.

• Motherboard: Gigabyte TRX50 AI TOP
• BIOS: I reset it to factory twice, so it shouldn't cause any trouble.
• CPU: AMD 7960X
• GPU: N/A. (I tried a very old Radeon but didn't help)|
• Memory: Kingston KTH-PL548S8-16G. For a total of 128 GB. Not on the supported memory list, but generic enough to hopefully work.
• Power Supply: Corsair HX1200i - 1200 W

*Note: I checked the CPU socket pins carefully - they're not bent; the CPU itself doesn't seem to be damaged.

BIOS: I reset it to factory twice, so it shouldn't cause any trouble.
You mean you cleared the CMOS? Your motherboard has a Q-FLASH plus button, I'd flash the BIOS with the latest version;

which is version F2. Then clear the CMOS.

Have you tried working with 4 slots per the manual and seen if you do get POST? You might to use an eraser to clean the gold contact on the ram sticks and then wipe clean off of any eraser lint, then reseat the rams in your motherboard.

Hi, and thanks for the help.

I'll try to flash to the latest BIOS, and see if I get POST, if that doesn't work, I'll try the 4 channel memory configuration.
I didn't clean any components since they're brand new (all of them were boxed), but it's worth a try.

But all in all, what really bothers me is the lack of activity for the two 7-segment debug LEDs. If that'd work, then I'd stand a much better chance of troubleshooting this, instead of having to interpret the flashing of the CPU and DRAM LEDs.

So I flashed the latest BIOS - now only the DRAM LED is on.
I tried the 4 channel memory configuration - nothing changed.
I tried cleaning the RAM slots with canned air and the copper contacts of the RAM sticks with ethanol - nothing changed.

I guess I'll try to go for officially supported RAM, and see if I can take it from there.
