Decide which network to connect to the internet in windows 7

I have a wireless router that is not connected to a broadband line yet (still waiting for Sky to get their act together!), but I use it to access my printer wirelessly.

To connect to broadband I use a mobile USB stick on the Vodafone network for the time being, which works fine.

The trouble is that when both are connected (router and USB stick) my laptop automatically selects the router to connect to the internet, which of course it can't as there's no ADSL line. If I disconnect the wireless router it uses the USB stick.

This means that I can't connect to the internet and print at the same time, and every time I want to print I need to connect the router and then disconnect when finished.

Can anyone advise how I can prioritise which network is selected for the internet when both are connected?

assign a static IP to the network card that connects to the router but don't enter a Gateway IP

go to the Network and Sharing Center.

on the left you should see Manage Network Connections.

right click on the network device you what to assign the static IP to and choose Properties.

double click on Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)

enable Use the following IP address: and enter the IP
