And you would have money left over to buy a round of thoes great nachos
for everyone in attendance at the auction:>)

if this game has all new parts in it then it is no longer a dedciated
machine, right?
if these were to go up in value someday this one couldn't be counted as
a factory original unless you lied to the buyer.

I stand corrected, I would buy 1/2 of a round of nachos and coffee for
thoes in attendance that did not bid up their own games. Wait, that
would an awful lot of nachos and coffee un bought :>)

All the MK's I see in that price range are conversions, 19" monitors,
etc. (even the one photo'd on Marc's page is a beat up converted cab -
only the $500 one was probably dedicated).

I want a dedicated original cabinet, non-faded, not water damaged, in
great condition. I know MK's are "a dime a dozen" but I have never
seen one for a low price. Always $500 or more and even then, usually
with a monitor only displaying green, faded sideart, etc.

If it were really important to me, then yes I could drive 3 hours to
the nearest auction and attend every one, and after a year I might find
a good MK. But what is the point in all that driving, expense, and
wasting a whole day at the auction. I'd rather just buy one of these
perfect condition MK's you guys have for sale for $300. :)

Maybe there wasn't a lot of MK action in WV, I'm not sure. Here in
Florida every auction is usually crawling with MKs. Normally 3-5
Dedicated at every auction, with MK2s making up the bulk of that. When
I purchased my MK1 for $350 it actually went quite a bit higher than
the MK2 cabs which were all in the $200-$300 range..

I guess price can vary somewhat by location, but I'd be amazed if you
couldn't get an MK for less than $500 anywhere in the continential US.
If there is a state where they go for $1200, i'll fill up a truck next
auction and take a week off work!

I think the difference is if you are looking for one, or if one is looking
for you. I think the $300 ones are usually a case of when someone sees one
at an auction and decides to pick it up because its cheap. If you are
actively looking for one, figure on paying around $500.

In the NJ area (which as near as I can tell has to be close to one of the
best collecting spots to live in).

http://www.basementarcade.com/arcade/auction/a73/Data.html

from one of Marc's auction page on his web-site:

Mortal Kombat $90
Mortal Kombat 2 (not working) $100
Mortal Kombat 3 Ultimate $150
Mortal Kombat 4 $500

MK's are a dime a dozen.. you see them all the time (not just because they
made a gazillion of them but also because the cabinets are built like
frigging tanks).

umm... maybe a 1/2 a round... you need to save some for the coffee... It can
get a might chilly in there (especially in Pensauken when it was still
there...)

you're right on Chuk.

The last MK II cab I bought had been converted into a Street Fighter Alpha
3. The artwork and marquee were fully intact... the only change was the CP
which was drilled and had a capcom cpo on it. I bought it for $295 on
e-bay... got it home and discovered that the origional MK II board was still
inside. All it needed was a new CPO and some holes bondoed to make it a
true MK II again... I acutally converted it to a Blitz 99 in the end (I
have young kids so bloody killing games are not standard in my house) and
unloaded the boards... after unloading the boards I ended up spending about
$175 for the cabinet.

These have to be the most heavily converted cabinets there are... if you
look on e-bay you can pretty much find anything installed in one...

No way in hell will you find a dedicated mk2 for $300 in arizona.
You must live on the east coast.

Archived from groups: rec.games.video.arcade.collecting (More info?)

Not in arizona! No way.
In az A dedicated mk2 goes anywhere from $650-$1500 I've been here 25
years and I've seen it time and time again.

Archived from groups: rec.games.video.arcade.collecting (More info?)

See! This guy sold one for $860 and it wasn't even mint.
That's sounds about right.

Archived from groups: rec.games.video.arcade.collecting (More info?)

Yeah this is the wrong place to sell nice games.
It seems like a junk collectors dream house to me.

Archived from groups: rec.games.video.arcade.collecting (More info?)

Hmmm! $700 and still going. That's about right for an average mk2 that
isn't mint.

Archived from groups: rec.games.video.arcade.collecting (More info?)

Ha! You're obviously not in arizona because I can get dedicated killer
instinct 1 ans 2's all day long for $250 buddy and mortal kombat is a
way better game by the way.By far!

Archived from groups: rec.games.video.arcade.collecting (More info?)

No! I'm 28 and I'll meet him anywhere if he want's to be a big mouth
tough guy.

That cpo is a cheap repo mr. know-it-all.Not original.
Think before you speak next time.

And I am sure with your attitude all potential buyers will now be
running away. Just not a professional way to handle peoples comments
on this board. Best way is to ignore them. If thats really how you
talk in life, I feel sorry for the people who do business with you.
Wow, I would hate for a problem to come up. Definitly on my Do not buy
from list.

Why is it that azarcadesel...@yahoo.com reminds me of Psycho from
stripes?

Psycho: "My name is Francis Sawyer but everyone calls me Psycho. I
don't like anyone touching my stuff!!! Any of you touch my stuff....and
I'll kill ya. And I don't like anyone touching me! So any of
you...homos...touch me...and I'll kill ya!"

Hulka: "Lighten up, Francis!"

I'm sure he'll fly out to meet you, because that's what reasonable
adults do. They get into pissing contests on message boards then they
fly half way across the country in order to fight somebody that
disagrees with them.

Yes, definitely. I just got back from Wisconsin, had to kick somebody's
ass up there because he thought Donkey Kong was the best game ever,
idiot.. best game ever is Donkey Kong Jr.
