So I recently built my pc days ago.
running

Ryzen 5 2600
PNY XLR8 3200mhz 8*16 - sticked on A2 B2
Gigabyte rx 570
Asus rog strix b450-F II

So I set up the d.o.c.p to 3200mhz, but when I do.. My computer won't boot up. It restarts like 3x then, the screen will show the megatrends something.. saying memory failed.
Now, I updated every drivers I can to all of my components even the BIOS to make sure everything will work fine. STILL NO FIX

So I made an experiment.

  1. I set up the d.o.c.p again to 3200mhz
  2. Instead of 3200mhz, I manually ran it to 2933mhz and IT BOOTED FINE
  3. Next, I set it on 3000mhz, IT BOOTED FINE, AGAIN.
  4. So basically, I am stuck at 3000mhz. I never tried to change it on 3200mhz
Is this even fine? I watched on youtube saying that it is okay as long as I wont exceed 3200.

What seems to be the problem here?

Hi sqweeky.

Ryzen 2600 supports up to 2933MHz for your RAM. Anything over that isn't guaranteed.

This is why people buy RAM that is on the QVL of the motherboard. When it's on the QVL it has been tested at the advertised speed using the DOCP profile.

The last Ryzen 2600 I built used 3200MHz Corsair Vengeance and the DOCP profile worked on the first try. The RAM was on the motherboard QVL and the RAM motherboard compatibility list.

If you have to use 2933MHz or 3000MHz just leave it at that.

overall conclusion.. based on my specs, I'm good and stay with 2933mhz to avoid any problems in future right?

For the machine to attain 3200MHz three things must support that speed: the CPU, the mobo, and the DRAM. Two out of three won't work and the Ryzen 5 2600 says the maximum speed is 2933MHz. 3200Mhz is considered overclocking for that CPU and you are into the silicone lottery at anything over 2933MHz.
