Deleted my c drive how can i fix this on my desk top dell

Hello and welcome to Tom's Hardware Forums.

It's quite difficult accidentally to delete your C:\ drive so can you please describe exactly what happened? When you switch on your Dell, do you see a brief message to press any Function key to "Restore to Factory Defaults?"

Which model is your Dell and did it come with any installation CDs?

I did the same thing on my laptop.I had Windows 7 operating system on my laptop. When I was trying to perform a task the hard drive containing windows 7 dissapeared.I managed to fix it by going into the bios and making the sata mode show AHCI.If you have XP make the sata mode show IDE.

To get rid of a virus (Internet Security 2012) I reinstalled the Windows 7 OS using the F12 method successfully. But, when I attempted to restore my files that I had backed up on a ClickFree device, there wasn't enough room on the hard drive due to some (Recovery?) files. So. I attempted to erase some files using WipeDrive software. That's how I ended up erasing the entire hard drive.
I have a Dell Studio 1558 and, yes, it came w/installation disks.
