Dell Inspiron 15 Gaming laptop, 2 years old, it won't work if it is not charging, and lately when I'm playing any game it shuts down as if the battery ran out, even though it is connected and charging. If someone has the same problem or know how to solve it, I'd be extremely grateful. I've been looking for a new battery but the model I have is not produced anymore, and I can't find a solution.
Laptop specs: 2K 16:9 screen, core i7 6700Hq octacore 2.6GHz, GTX 960m 4gb, 16gb RAM, Subwoofer, 74W/h 6 lithium cells battery
I can't play anymore and I'm afraid it doesn't turn on ever again, losing all my college data

Solution
If it won't work if the AC adapter isn't plugged in, then the battery is likely shot and needs replacing.

A 6th gen i7 + 960m shouldn't require too much power. The AC adapter should be able to power it, whether or not the battery works. So it is odd that the laptop is powering off even with the AC adapter plugged in. Is this the original AC adapter? How many Watts is it rated for (read the output Volts and Amps on the label and multiply them)?

There's also a small chance that the battery is fine, but the laptop's power circuitry is failing to deliver sufficient power from both the AC adapter and battery when the laptop is consuming maximum power.

1st youre not going to lose data if the battery goes the HDD and or SSD will be fine. 2nd flip the laptop over and take off the bottom panel, if its the laptop im thinking it should just be 1 small screw. Then see if the battery is actually plugged in to the board the battery has a small ribbon style cable that should be plugged in.

Done, the ribbon cable was connected from the battery to the mobo. What else can I do?

Try the notebookreview forums for suggestions on where to get a replacement battery. I've noticed that site seems to have a lot more laptop model-specific activity. You can also ask to see if other owners have experienced a similar problem.

And "Dell 15 7000" is not identification of the model. It actually covers several different models.
