OK, so recently when it tried to boot from my Windows 7 CD, the computer suddenly went off. Now no matter how I tried, I couldn't get the computer to power on.

I removed everything, plugged in necessary parts again and it now works fine, though I see a continuous orange-ish light on the motherboard. Doesn't blink, doesn't do anything, it's solid.

Also, the power light is a normal white.

Before anything dangerous happens, what might be the issue? (Inspiron 580's. The slim tower one).

Intel Core i3 3.2 GHz
4 GB RAM

Also, sorry in advance if I got this in the wrong section. Don't know where else to put it.

I haven't seen this with the 580 but it was a common problem with the optiplex GX range. In those cases it meant that the power supply unit was kapot and had to be replaced ! To test it finally, unplug the power cord from the power socket AND the machine then plug it back in to try again - if no go then you need a replacement power unit. How old is the machine ?
